Arezzo is one of the most ancient towns of Tuscany. The Etruscans first and then the Romans inhabited the city and its surroundings. Today Arezzo is famous for antiques shops, medieval historical buildings and works by masters of the Tuscan school of painting. Arezzo was the hometown of Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, famous for his patronage to talented people, and of Giorgio Vasari, architect, painter and art historian. Here you can watch the medieval knights tournament called "Saracen Joust", organized yearly at the end of June.
